Let us test the quick reply! My name is James(known as Thom on Facebook). I have lived in Palm Bay all my life. I go to BCC, and hope to get a degree in English Language Education from UCF someday. I will probably get to be a teacher by the time I am 50. Which is ok with me, I guess I currently volunteer in the web working group, and I am an admin on this forum. Email me if you have any questions(wearent@gmail.com), or even if you just want to rant. Private messages could be an option as well... NEW FORUM IS NEW! Push buttons, and learn things! Hello everyone I am Ubor. I have not participated or attended any of the meetings or events, so I haven't met anyone. Mostly I've been dealing with people loosing their homes to foreclosure, as a foreclosure defense activist. This situation caused very much by the same incongruities that OWS groups are frustrated about, so I am drawn to find out more.

Happy you're here, Ubor! I bet you have a lot of information about the foreclosure process and how it's affecting people that the rest of us would find very interesting! I am a drama teacher at a private training studio and I teach all ages of kids. I'm also a long-term gaming geek and Sims addict. I've been married for eight years and I sing in a alt-folk band in which my husband plays guitar. I'm a transfer to the area from the midwest (Nebraska and Missouri) who got here 6 or so years ago. I am so excited that there are so many awesome like-minded people in the area that I am now getting to meet because of Occupy!

Happy to be a part of people that are serious about changing America for the better. Im a believer of peaceful, effective protest. I also believe if the politicians in our area don't reflect a fairness in there opinions, its up to me to remind them.
I'm a transfer from NYC, 25 years and remember the protest day's of the late 60's personally.

Mandy Elliott in twenty words or less:
Floridian. Independent. Impulsive. Intelligent. Muse. Assertive. Curious. Optimistic. Logical. Responsible. Honest. Sensitive. Resilient. Daring. Cautious. Quantum Activist. Fruit Junkie.
- M.E.
I joined the Revolution because I'm tired of trying to conform to a system that flat doesn't work for me. A system that creates and judges value based on economic standing rather than merit and valor, intelligence and compassion. I was outraged by the reality that profit drives our world rather than ingenuity and imagination. When someone's idea, no matter how brilliant, no matter how useful, no matter how helpful to society as a whole is judged on their ability to profit off of it rather than the aforementioned qualities, I couldn't stand idle anymore. I had to learn more, to understand this web of deceit and misdirection, of manipulation and corruption that traps the lambs of the Sheeple Era so easily.
Our economic state is a symptom of the bigger issue of the distinct lack of individual responsibility. Responsibility to seek the truth, to share the truth with others, and to let others make up their own minds. The responsibility of individual Liberty. The responsibility of being accountable for your own actions or inactions.
The Unites States Constitution says "We The People"
...not "We the corporations" ...not "We the Elected Officials" ...not "We the Media"
it says "We The People of the Unites States" which means
!!! E A C H...A N D...E V E R Y...O N E...O F...US !!!
No one can do everything but everyone can do something just as having tools isn't using them. It is time to take a stand and educate our selves and one another and say, "No, we wont take your word for it and no, we wont take this shit anymore!"
No one is saying it's going to be easy but together we outnumber them and what else do we have to lose?
-steps off the soapbox-

Hello all. I am a newbee and an oldbee. I am in my 60s. End of my workdays. Allot of road behind me. Moved from the California to Miami in 1978 then to Melbourne.
I worked most of my life, starting at age 14. Landscape, gas station attendant, post office, store, college, military, profession, the end.
I chose to conform. After my military service, my view changed, our political leaders had there own agenda that was deadly to some and not to the health of the workers. Even though I was in a union, many of my ex-military work friends thought tax cuts were more important than union busting politics. Go figure. Unions came about to protect workers and now there are few unions. My union caved in to corporate management at the detriment of the workers.
There has been a mind warp and a change in USA life. The new world order, global business, free markets, outsourcing, bottom line, fewer employees, work more, less wages, less family time, less benefits, more efficiency, global competition, competition with foreign workers, drop of USA standard of living to raise developing countries, all for the monetary gain of the few. The way to get ahead and prosper is over the financial dead bodies of the many.
I chose to go for the money, I should have chose what felt right for me, what work made me feel good, in my case it would have been mathematics. Strange. That’s me.

I have a saying that gets me through when I think about the things I might should have done... "Our histories may not be ideal. They may be broken and anguished, striking a deep cord of injustice within our hearts; but they are the rungs on the ladder to our ascension. Tomorrow the sun will rise again and while we cannot change our pasts, we will do well to choose in having a hand in our futures." -M.E. As my twin would say, "Shoulda-Coulda-Woulda-Didn't...but now you can."I can't speak for anyone else but I'm glad to have someone with your experiences with us. This group is diverse and I like it. Thank you all.

Hi, I'm Gary and I have been waiting for this to happen for a long time. I suppose I should have joined some political organization a long time ago, but now seems the right time that the right changes CAN be made; that people are waking up to the reality that I have been seeing since I was growing up.
One big difference is that there are new ideas now about how to have a government where every voice is heard -such as the stucture of the GA meeting. Personally, I think it is possible to have a society where benevolence, peace, joy, safety and basic needs are meet for all people without having to change the basic nature of human beings.
I know a lot of people believe that this is naive and overly idealistic, and that our curren society more accurately reflects the way people really are and are therefor happy with the way things are, but this is plainly false. I think a major part of the movement is about getting people to realize that things CAN be better; and that if they don't, we will destroy ourselves.
We have everything we need right now to create a sustainable society and economy, but it is going to take changing the very structures of how our society is organized and maintained -and that included what we choose to feed our minds (entertainment, advertisements, education, etc.) Most notibly, supporting horizontal, elegetarian structures over hierachical ones, which are undemocratic and hence unamerican. I know this sounds like I'm soapboxing, but this is really what I'm about.

Aloha Gary! I, for one, agree with you in that it can get better. I was wondering if you were familiar with The Venus Project (www.thevenusproject.com)? I am still learning about it but it seems to me a group of individuals across the world trying to work toward a resource based society. I think they are really on to something there.

My name is Tripp and I'm a native Floridian and have lived other places as well. I've had many experiences in many careers and as a 60 year old I am very thankful to be healthy. I've lived in this area for 17 years. Currently I'm a member of the local Chamber of Commerce, the SCPA, former prez of the Satellite Beach AARP chapter as well as a 9/11 Truther, peace activist, financial advisor and a member of the Surfrider foundation. This is a unique time in history and a great time to be alive.
RE: The Venus Project, I know some of the guys who did the animation on the latest Zeitgeist movie. They're local! The Venus project is only @ 100 miles from here.

Tripp, glad to have you! I wouldn't be surprised if you were a HAM too...(?)
RE: The Venus Project, I had no idea! I feel a road trip coming on... I think it's remarkable and I'd love to meet some of the minds who've put it together. To live in a society so accepting and with that organic sense of community; to have the freedom to imagine and the freedom to evolve. Where technology isn't an enemy but a tool. It's exciting, especially realizing it's so tangible.

Bonjour, I am Remmy, Mandy's Twin. Born and raised in FL. I currently work as a trainer at GSI Commerce. This time of year I don't have a lot of time to offer but I will be offering it nonetheless. I am going to sign up to be part of the action team and likely the media team.
I'm a pretend-photographer. lol. I say pretend because I don't entirely know what I'm doing but I enjoy it. I have a quirk about efficiency and a knack for easily overlooked compassion; too there's a twang of blunt reality. I love talking strategy and I'm an analyst so I sometimes over-think things.

Hello Everyone!
My name is Ronald Langbecker and I’m a liberal. I’m also a married father of a beautiful, amazing four year old, and I work as an Electrical Engineer. I’m an accomplished carpenter, former fence builder (15 years), and former small business owner before getting a bachelor’s degree and moving to Florida. I can read/write computer programs in 10 different computer programs, including C/C++, C#, Java, VB 6.0/NET, Matlab, Labview/Teststand, and Android Java. I have always been fascinated with politics, history, economics, and the law. In my spare time I hope to start silk-screening T-shirts and signs as soon as I get all the material together to do that.
I’ve never been involved with a political action group before, but I’m excited to hear of so many intelligent, energetic and like-minded people coming together to make a difference. The current system of government is broken, and I don’t want to look back in 20 years and say, “I didn’t do anything to help. I just sat there and did nothing.”
My personal beliefs are: Economically, I believe a cyclic Keynesian/Classical system would be best, but since the Classical Economists seem to out-number the Keynesians, I tend to just pull for the Keynesians. I do believe the Capitalist System will be overthrown and replaced with a Communist System, at some point. When people actually grasp the power of the internet – they’ll realize they don’t need bankers, financiers, and merchants. Workers (Proletariats) will be able to build/market/invent new products and sell them online without the need of a Bourgeois Class. Also, I believe open immigration is the key to making this country sustainable. I would love to see the wall street system completely go-away, so there wouldn’t be any stockholders to make happy, and corporations would be taxed more heavily for being bigger because more smaller corporations would be so much better than one large, lobbying, corporation.
I’ll try to help this group any way I can, hopefully, I’ll make it to a GA soon. You can call me Ron.

Welcome to the team Ron! When you do get the materials and such together for the sign making etc, please let me know. I'd love to see how it's done and assist if I can. No, not asking for a job I have a full time job already but I'm offering to help and learn how it goes just the same. I like learning new skills, and would also love the opportunity to photograph the process if you'd be willing. :-p

Hello Everyone! My name is Ronald Langbecker and I’m a liberal. I’m also a married father of a beautiful, amazing four year old, and I work as an Electrical Engineer. Hi Ron! We have quite a few things in common, among them engineering, programming (well, more like programming-lite for me) and 4 year olds. Politically, we are on the same page, mostly, maybe not on the same paragraph..lol According to your skillset, looks like you may be able to help out in the web and media groups. With carpentry, possibly in other areas when there is an occupy site. Welcome!!!

Pat here. Really impressed (!) with the individuals I’ve met on the three occasions thus far that my health has allowed me to attend. Why I’m attracted to the “Occupy” movement: (1)I’ve been frustrated about our various social systems most of my life, (2)The past decade I’ve been educating myself about what my government is doing in my name worldwide and for eight of those years I’ve literally been “packed” to hit the streets if sufficient masses of others would also. FINALLY--the Occupy movement sprang from the Arab Spring! (3)I’m here now to hear POSITIVE solution-oriented thinking and to do what actions I can that are POSITIVE. (4)I’ve been specifically inspired through 2011 by futurist 82-year-old Barbara Marx Hubbard. In the 1970’s, she developed and led the implementation of 25 “Synergistic Convergences” (problem-solving Town Meetings). Currently she is active with The Shift Network, thinkers in related fields, and regular people from most corners of the earth, growing us towards a planetary birth on December 22, 2012. Attached are excerpts from her recent essay about OWS that I agree with. I WANT to do more than my health currently allows, but I am committed to participating as much as I'm able! Attachments:

Hi Pat,
Just wanted to mention that I too have health issues that limit my abilities, energy, motivation. In the not too distant past, any participation for me would have been impossible, but luckily my illness is being controlled better now so I am doing what I can, as I can. Just wanted to let you know I can relate to your health concerns and limitations...welcome!
