Please note, I am posting this only to prompt productive action. It seemed to me that although we have been passing proposals, little work is being done on them there after. I thought to make it easier by starting threads in appropriate groups with proposals that need work. Anyone can help with these; please, and thank you. -M.E. If you have a suggested location please include the following:Address: Map: Time: Day of the week: Why do you want to move locations? Why this new location?

I'm not sure why a public place has to be where we meet. The only community center is in Palm Bay and they close at 8. The parks close at dark. WHAT is the problem with the Sun Shoppe? I'll use the same excuse people use to avoid moving the sign wave, if we move elsewhere people wont be able to find us! Another unproductive feel good, GA that got NOTHING accomplished!

I think a controversial, but not entirely impractical solution is to have GA twice a week, with one meeting being at a park or something. Some friends and I meet somewhat regularly at Castaway Point of of US to paint and stuff. We could start the meeting around 5 or 6 and run til 8 or 9. There really aren't too many large groups in the park, and there is a HUGE pavilion with plenty of tables. Also, the park is real close to where I live ;D
I think there are many benefits of meeting in a public place over a private one. For one, what if the Sun Shoppe started to hate us? We would be screwed. The owners have the final say, and if we are in a public place we have a certain degree of legal right to be there, right? Also, so long as we organize it thoroughly, transparently, and announce it at the next few GAs I don't see losing people over the move. Especially since we can still have GA at the sun shoppe if we are doing two a week.
IF we do two GAs a week, this will cut down on the length of each GA, and streamline a lot of the proposals. It will also give people more chances to come out and get involved. If you can't make it to one, you can go to the next.

I think two GA's a week at different locations is reasonable and would offer more options to members. It is a good compromise between the inefficient one meeting a week and the overkill that would be a daily meeting for our group at this stage. If there was an actual occupations site, things would be different.

I too agree that two GAs a week would be good. Excellent suggestion for compromise, James.
Say.... Mondays @ 7 at the Shoppe and Thursdays @ 5 at the Park? Is their ample lighting there? Or outlets I could plug my laptop into by chance so I don't have to transcribe the minutes I can just type them as we go?

5 or 6? That pretty much leaves out people who work till 5!

Thank you for that observation Sanahelwa, perhaps you'd like to offer an alternative time instead of just discounting the one suggested.
Maybe to accommodate the 9-5 workers we could change the days to Mondays and Saturdays. Or Wednesdays and Saturdays. Or keep the idea of Mondays and Thursdays and do them both at 7. We need constructive suggestions not just complaints that the suggestions offered don't work.
------------- My other questions about lighting and outlets still stand as I'm not familiar with the park mentioned.

We are assuming that people will need to or want to go to both. I will just pick the one that is most convenient and go to that. If people can make both, great! If not, we've got FB, the forum, the website to keep us up to date between meetings. Unless someone really, really wants to attend all meetings.
I am not saying don't try to find a better solution that can work for the most people, but with two meetings a week, we can expand the parameters a little. Personally, an earlier meeting during the week would help me out a lot. Or an early meeting on Saturday. But I will accomodate my schedule to make one meeting, not every week, but whenever I can.
Sorry, no suggestions for sites yet or knowledge of resources at park.

I know that the lighting is good. I think the pavilions have lights. I am not sure if there are outlets though...

I think if we are going for 2 GAs, that one should be a weekday evening and one should be a weekend. So I would go with Monday and Saturday, and have the Saturday one start earlier.

Can we get an address to this park or a google map of it. I'd like to get a poll to offer it and let people vote what time is best for them before the GA tomorrow if possible so we can bring a complete proposal to the GA and get the ball rolling as it were.

The issue with two times is that not everyone can go to both and it could make it ripe for abuse for someone wanting to pass something that someone else who can't come that day would object to. I'm not blocking the idea, I think it's a good idea, in fact, but we need a sufficiently economical way to deal with that issue rather than having a re-vote every meeting. Maybe it's really minor since anyone can propose a strikedown proposal. IDK, what do you think?
