The General Assembly met on 3/31/2012 at Fee Park at 3:30 pm. There were 4 attendees. The meeting was held in an informal open discussion format.
Intro/Status/Announcements:
We were joined for the first time by Steven, who has been at Occupy Wall Street and is interested in direct action and would be willing to participate in an OMF camp. He offered to make GA flyers and a zombie walk video.
The following were distributed:
- 99% spring training flyers and 1/4 page handouts
- zombie walk flyers and 1/4 page handouts
- OMF "business' cards and stickers
The following forms were presented for use at GA, as discussed in the facilitation working group meeting on 03/24 and in the FWG sub-board:
OMF General Assembly Process/Agenda Handout
This document summarizes the GA process and the meeting agenda and flow, including hand signals, tasks and time. This is meant to remind regulars and aid newcomers of our process to ensure we accomplish the goals of the general assembly, which include planning and executing direct actions for the group through the practice of direct democracy. (Note: we still need a process "script" to follow/read at step #4 specified in the agenda below).

OMF GA Proposal Form
Summarizes the format of a proposal to ensure those submitting to stack have a submittal tool and provide enough information for the group to properly evaluate the proposal and solicit consensus.
occupymelbournefl.org/docs/omf_prop.pdf
The group agreed to print the above two forms on one double-sided 1/4 page to handout at GAs for reference and use.
OMF Minutes/Notes Template
A tool to aid minute takers. It follows the format of the agenda and asks for specific info needed to ensure all relevant information is captured.

Other items discussed:
Solidarity Network
Setting up activities modeling the "solidarity network", particularly SeaSol (http://www.seattlesolidarity.net/), a direct action oriented network which stands up for and helps disadvantaged and/or oppressed citizens to resolve specific problems and injustices, particularly with the 1%. For example, helping a tenant stand up to a landlord who is not making needed repairs or helping a homeowner going through foreclosure to prevent eviction. The latter could be in the form of an Occupy "eviction defense team". We would need to make flyers to distribute soliciting people who have problems with the 1% and want us to help in some way through direct action. No immediate follow up was planned yet. (*need someone to put forth a formal proposal).
Food Not Bombs
The group would like to do work similar to "Food Not Bombs." Existing local FNB group is on hiatus because they did not have enough participation and were just feeding themselves. We first need to participate in our currently planned Daily Bread action at the end of April to assess the local need community.
99% Spring Training
Mireille will try to set up a dry run for the training at the venue after the video (4/4) is provided. Tentative plans are for Monday April 9th at the West Melbourne Library, at the usual DAWG meeting time since it may be convenient for trainers and hosts.
(Side note: as of today we have 34 non-regulars signed up to attend!)
The meeting adjourned at 4:45 pm
